STYLE LOVE

Hey everyone! I'm back! Hopefully... Jokes aside, I need to commit to spending at least one hour on my blog everyday!

That has been one long hiatus and I've missed sharing with you my quirky discoveries and equally random thoughts. It's therapy of sorts that I've missed.
All I can say at this point is that the LLM is a female dog as someone put it not too long ago. The good news is that I've decided to stop moaning about it, get on with it and have fun while I'm at it. Sounds like a brilliant plan, dunnit...? Someone give me a clue to mastering the art of time management in a place where the days rush by in a blur.

Oh well, back to the things I love which give me joy. No point quitting blogging over this not so little hassle, is there?

One quirky fashionista has caught and held my attention for a while now and inspite of myself I've jumped on the bandwagon of adoring and fervent worshippers at this style goddess's altar.

I present to you - the incomparable, the magnificent, the ever stylish - Miss Solange Knowles...

Swag...
At the recent NYFW. Check out how glossy that 'fro is.

Simple = Stylish.

This is my kinda swag right here... :)

In this era of trends following, you said it!

Lady DJ? On another level*full stop*

You know she made it work!

Most of all, I love the fact that she's been able to carve a distinct style niche for herself. It ain't easy being Lady B's little sister, that's for sure.

Check out more of Solange's style on MY DAMN BLOG. It's also a photograpy enthusiast's delight.

Peace & Love

NOTHING GOOD COMES EASY... EVER.

I'm sorry to sound rather cliche but my title post has become like something of a mantra over the last couple of weeks. A little something I mutter repeatedly to myself when I'm tempted to ask myself what I've signed myself up for. As I write this I'm huffing and puffing up one of those little hills that dot Buckingham, trying to meet up with a lecture in Oil and Gas, (which all happens to sound like jibberish at the moment). At the same time, my tendons are shrieking in pain and begging me to slow down. My lungs have me blowing like a horse in all this cold air, but what can I do???? I thought I'd left all this behind when I left the Law School years ago. And I really do not want to go into the course work at the moment which sounds more frightening than anything I've ever had to do thus far. Yes! More frightening than the Nigerian Law School and even Practice, I hate to admit. But who wanted the extra feather on her cap? Yep... Me!

Pretty much 2 weeks since I got to Buckingham, England and I'm still not quite adjusted to anything and for that reason I've been running around like a headless chicken for most of the time. It's still dark by 9.00am and the sun sets by 4.00pm. For that reason, I can't seem to jump out of bed until a couple of minutes before 9.00am and my system goes into sleep mode by the time its 6.00pm. I've been making a considerable effort to adjust as quickly as possible. One of my new words for the next couple of months will have to be 'Time Managment'.

So far, the experience has not been too bad... minus the eternal cold and dreary weather. My Mom said 'Enjoy the experience, it'll make it easier.' And I think she's right. We had one of our Seminars today - the first for me. And instead of actually being a little at loss, because there was a lot of interaction involved between the students and the Professor, I was actually going for it much to my surprise. It's not about being wrong or right, I discovered. It's about learning., which I'm quite determined to do - and enjoy it while I'm at it.

No more moaning, no more complaining. It's time to roll up my shirt sleeves and dive in the murk and give it all I've got, growling all the while. Afterall, I do intend to put bread... and meat ... and wine on my table from it all. Here's another of my favourite sayings for you - When the going gets tough, the tough get going!!! Raaaarrrr!

I miss you guys and will get back to blogging - with fantastic pictures as soon as possible.

KEEPING SANE AT CHRISTMAS

The New Year is here.

This was the longest Christmas I've had to endure. Reason? I spent it away from my family... in Abuja. #Tip for the Future => Abuja is NOT a travel destination at Christmas! The Nation's Capital was a veritable ghost town of sorts.

Er... Okay my Dad came to visit, but he's working half the time... That doesn't count, does it?

I missed Mom's cooking and gist. My brothers shenanigans, especially the after-hours cooking at 2a.m. after plenty of partying and boozing. I missed the laughter. I missed the fun. I missed the feeling of connection that comes with being a part of a closely knit family unit.

It was tough!

Here's a glimpse of how I managed to keep sane over the festivities.

On the 24th: Hung out with friends...

Roxy of Tailor Me

U.T

Sir Cornells of passionistahub

Me! Having a Cosmopolitan and hanging in there.
26th - Tramping through Arts & Crafts Center with Sir Cornells

So Sir Cornells took one look at my satchel/ man-bag and had to have one. We went from shop to shop perusing their wares but like all great finds, it was a one off. A bit disappointing but a great way to spend time.
Very colorful drums.
This looked like the ideal tool to handle my afro.

This looked like it had the 'Ayo' game concept. I was about to grab it until it was opened. I still don't get what it was meant to be.

Great man-bag, wrong size.
Fascinating wood work for a brief case.
The 'Aladdin' slippers caught my eye.

And more bags.

I thought Sir Cornells looked great with this man-bag but he had something entirely different in mind.

He got this amazing necklace/ bracelet made from some sort of stone and magnet!! We were fascinated!

Wearing it as a bracelet.

My only purchase of the day. Luurv it!!

I took several dozen random pictures that will pop up later. Hope y'all had a lovely time.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FINDS.

How are you all doing? I wish everyone a fantastic Christmas and a beautifully blessed and prosperous New Year.

In this season of 'buy buy', what have you guys bought that you are absolutely gaga about? I don't know about you, but I've bought things during Christmas, get home and ask myself if I was hypnotised at the point of purchase.

For that reason, I've made it a principle not to shop at Christmas/ New Year, but I made an exception to the rule when I stumbled upon these pieces. Love I tell you.....

I stumbled into this while roaming around in the Arts & Crafts Center Abuja and just had to have it! After laising with my friend and fellow fashion blogger Sir Cornells of fashion360plus who went absolutely 'speechless' at the 'masculine lines'; his words not mine, I left the shop with my satchel in tow and my purse considerably lighter. One purchase I would make all over again. Lurv!!!
The back view of my Croc Skin Satchel. Perfect for an Ipad, note-pads etc. Perfect for work. Great for school.

Suffice to say, Vivienne Westwood is a designer I love for the edge in her designs. The bottle cap has a crucifix on it!! The scent? Not sweetly feminine, not overpoweringly masculine. Perfect!

This piece really lightened my purse. Bought from some Arab owned jewellry shop in Abuja. I'm so in-love with it that no other neck piece exists for me at the moment. It's a statement piece.

Sam Elderman = Edge. Need I say more? <3

Er... I have an obsession with cheetah print. Had to have this! Perfect with a black short office dress.

What have y' all been buying this Christmas?

Love & Light,

xoxo
