NEW CRUSH! JULIA SARR-JAMOIS

Julia Sarr-Jamois is the 23 year old fashion editor for Wonderland magazine. She became the editor in November, 2010 and has since become a fixture amongst the style set during the European fashion weeks. She is known for her perfect afro and unique mixture of denim, color and accessories.
Julia’s first foray into fashion was as a model for Diesel and Fred Perry, however she felt that she needed a more creative career, so delved into styling. She began an internship at I-D magazine after leaving college.
Her love of vintage fashion stems from her mother’s stall at the Brixton market, during the 80s. She confides that most of her favorite denim is from her mother’s collection.

LOVELY STRANGE THINGS.

I'm a lover of strange, unconventional yet lovely things. The stranger they are, the more beauty I see in them. These pieces make me swoon. Enjoy.

TEXTURE

Sorry guys... I've been missing in action... So many responsibilities at the new job (more on that some time in the future). I've been wearing my hair natural for a while now especially since my scalp has low tolerance level for weaves or braids, it didn't make sense to get my hair done anymore. My hair doesn't even like been braided, what's it called? Weaving or cornrows. It hates being restrained in any form or fashion. Period! It's fraustrating spending tons of money getting your hair done only to take it out a week later, but my hair likes to be free to do its own thing, and when it isn't it makes my whole life uncomfortable!

Unrestrained, wild looking hair is totally unacceptable especially in my profession. The phrase 'fit and proper' from Law School as regards looking professional keeps ringing in my head especially now at my present job. My hair has resisted all my attempts at making it presentable and is constantly losing shape - a huge afro one day, a shrunken TWA the next. I really get weary and fraustrated at the constant care and pampering natural hair requires.I even considered re-locing my hair.

I've chopped off a few inches after my last Grace Jones look. I just can't seem to keep up with the way my hair grows and anyone who knows natural hair knows it grows sideways and never down, so you end up with this candy floss look.. Skinny at the bottom, big on top! I can't comb my curls without shea butter and a bit of VO5 conditioner in it. I recently discovered a secret ingredient for fabulously soft curly hair without the chemicals. (By the way can you believe someone suggested I do jheri curs and I considered it for all of two seconds... All that product and grease... Urgh! Visions of that scene in Coming to America).

Anywoo, I was going through the internet and I discovered these beauties with amazing to-die for natural kinks and curls... and all of a sudden I'm in-love with my hair again and committed once more to my hair journey. Nothing like a little inspiration to put things in perspective and make you look at the big picture of the future.

I love the hair I was born with. <3

PS: Blogger is getting on my last nerve! Forgive my haphazard alignment.
